Archie passed away May 12, 2017. He was 89. Archie was born in Kensal, North Dakota on November 30, 1927. He spent his childhood in Carrington, North Dakota. Archie attended the University of North Dakota before entering military service in 1946 where he served in the Army Security Agency during the occupation of Japan after WWII. After his honorable discharge in 1948, Archie attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a degree in Accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant. While attending college, Archie married his childhood sweetheart Patty Myers on January 14, 1950. He then joined the accounting firm of Ernst and Ernst in Minneapolis Minn. Archie and Patty had two daughters: Sandra Jean and Colleen Ann. In 1960 the family moved to Portland, Oregon to be closer to family. Archie took a position in the accounting firm of Pattullo and Gleason. Archie had a very successful career in accounting providing many years of service to his clients and was made a full partner with the firm. Archie was an avid golfer and after his retirement from Pattullo, Gleason and O’Neill in 1997 spent most days playing a round of golf and talking politics (his second favorite activity) with his many friends at Rose City golf course.
Archie was preceded in death by his wife Patty in 2002. Archie leaves behind two daughters: Sandra O’Neill and Colleen Bingold (Steve), three grandchildren: Megan Phelan (Larry), Bryan Bingold, Katherine Barnhart (Brendan) and three great granddaughters: Brenna Phelan, Lola and Bella Barnhart.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St Rita Catholic Church preceded by a rosary at 12:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
