Larry Leo Dexheimer
October 20th, 1943 – April 29th, 2017
Larry Dexheimer was born into a large family in Velva, North Dakota in 1943. He spent some years there in rural farm county before the family moved to Portland, Oregon, where he grew up and attended Madison HS and later Portland State University.
Larry served in the Air Force in Germany in the mid 60’s followed the Air Force Reserve and then served 15 years in the Oregon Army National Guard. He spent some time in the FBI, but most of his career was as a policemen for Clackamas County Sheriff and as Chief of Public Safety and firearms instructor for Clackamas Community College and other campuses. His final years of work were spent riding a bicycle downtown as an officer of the Portland Patrol.
He was a funny man who enjoyed a good time. He was passionate artist, loved fishing and the outdoors, golfing and traveling to famous western and Native American sites .
Larry is survived by his daughter Lara Bruhn, his son Lee Dexheimer and his two grandchildren Jude and Lola Bruhn.
Services will be held at Mt Scott Funeral Home May 8th, 2017 at 1pm followed by military honors at Willamette National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
We will love and miss you always and will always honor our memories of you Dad.
