FERN ANDERSON LUKE
Fern Anderson Luke was born in Colorado on July 8, 1919. Her parents died when she was young and her aunt and uncle, Ed and Elizabeth Erickson, invited her to come live with them in Vancouver, WA. After graduating from Vancouver High School, she attended Mrs. Hastings School of Business in Portland.
On October 3, 1940 Fern married Russell Luke. During World War II, while Russell was stationed overseas, she worked in the Cost Department for Kaiser Shipbuilding in Vancouver. Later she was employed by the Vancouver School District Superintendent’s office as secretary to four department heads. After her husband was ordained, she served as his office secretary in two of his assigned churches. She often took work home from the office so she could go with him calling on the elderly and ill.
Fern was den mother to her son’s Scout troop. She enjoyed birds and animals. She always taught Sunday School and dearly loved all the children.
She leaves two children – Karen King of Minnesota and David of Pensacola, Florida. She enjoyed four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother David Clark and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She wanted to thank all the family and friends, especially Curt and Joanne Sorg, who went with her on her journey through life.
